Once Brent finally arrived in Australia, he was able to begin living in our new house. The relocation company had set up the house with temporary furniture since it takes two months or more for our furniture to arrive by boat. We were eager for Brent to get settled into the house and get familiar with the area.
About a day after arriving, I got a text in the middle of the night (daytime for him) that he was not going to live there because it was infested with bugs. (I’ll leave the description at that!). After the pest control company came and doused the entire property (carpets and all) in pesticides, we broke the lease, and the house hunt began again.
Fortunately, we were able to find a new place just a few blocks away that is much nicer, according to Brent. I’ve only seen pictures. But since he’s pickier than I am, I’m sure it is! (It’s pictured above). I’m happy that I can still walk to school, shops and the beach. Even though it was just a few blocks north, it is located in the suburb Brighton. Brighton is famously known for its colorful bathing boxes, which were once used for swimmers to privately change and store items for the beach in the late 19th century.
Since the house isn’t available until mid- May, Brent has been living in a hotel room which is apparently getting pretty cramped. I’m sure he’s becoming very familiar with the local eateries and very ready to move into our house!
