After Brent returned to Melbourne for his last three weeks without us, the kids and I spent some time visiting with the grandparents, siblings, cousins and friends over the next few weeks. When I wasn’t traveling to relatives’ houses, I was getting our house in order since we won’t be there too much.
At Mummal and Pappy’s house, we managed to squeeze in a ton of activities in a few days even with days of pouring rain. First stop was for the kids to feed the “neighs”. They enjoy feeding grass to the miniature horses as soon as they can. We skipped rocks at the stream on our property, took hikes where Greyson was hunting for dinosaurs, went fishing, and more.
It was the first time fishing, so we had to closely exam the worms (in the coffee can). It was really exciting until the fish came out of the water and got a little too close, and Isla had to run away… but did eventually come closer to inspect. Greyson had a similar reaction but I didn’t quite catch the right facial expression on him….
We also went to some of the the cousins’ activities- Porter’s baseball game, Kirsten and Kendall’s choir concert, and Quincy’s field hockey tournament. We also got the grand tour of Uncle Jess and Aunt Candice’s brewery that’s under construction. I didn’t get any pictures of the brewery, so you can visit their Facebook page- GearHouse Brewing Co. for updates.
The next visit was to Grandma and Pop Pop’s house where the first stop there was the new swing that Pop Pop hung from the tree (unfortunately no picture!). They also enjoyed going Chocolate World, having a sleep over with cousin Charlie and a Mother’s Day picnic with the aunts, uncles and cousins. Isla and Greyson got to drive Charlie’s Mustang- thankfully we were able to put it on slow speed!
Lastly, we had a family picnic at a state park so that we could get together with everyone one last time and especially for Brent to say goodbye since he hadn’t been home too much. Despite it being a very cold and windy day, we all managed to have a really nice time… The kids spent a lot of time on the playground, there were volleyball games and lots of food. It was a very nice send off…
