I hope everyone had a lovely Mother’s Day. I certainly did, especially because I got to experience my first Mother’s Day celebration at Isla’s school. Isla was so excited to have me come to the celebration- so much so that we had to count it down for a week. It was really interesting to see how she handled it too.
With her $7, she purchased my gift on Thursday and was so distraught that I may see it in her book bag when I arrived at school. She packed everything up quickly so I couldn’t see and had to hide it immediately once we arrived home. I told her to hide it in her room, but she selected another location…. As I was dusting my nightstand on Saturday, I couldn’t imagine what had fallen behind it. Here is it was my present! But I didn’t let her know that I saw it…
On Friday morning, we had breakfast in her classroom where we received more gifts. I got to see what she had to say about me in this questionnaire…. I received a rose quartz heart, a special wish (she wishes for me to have a rainbow kitchen!) and the School’s community cookbook. The room was decorated with pictures drawn of us and quotes from the children.
The students also performed a mindfulness program for us and sang a few songs. They showed the video posted below, and we had to follow along with our children. I’m proud to say that Isla had a little solo – apparently the other kids could not do this move, so she got to do it by herself (about 4 minutes in). The entire mooring was all really special, and even more special with how pleased Isla was to share it all with me.
Greyson even got to give me some special cards too that he made a his playgroups.
On Sunday, I thought that I would be receiving this hidden gift right away (gold purse), but Isla made me wait until we went on our picnic to the Royal Botanical Gardens. I wanted to go there and try to get some family pictures together.
Brent made the day pretty special too. I got a lovely card from him, an amazing dinner out (which I think was technically for my birthday too)…. he cleaned up all the picnic gear and our shoes which had far too much bird poo on it from the park ๐ and he cooked ordered dinner for us!ย And when it wasn’t delivered on time, he negotiated and got it for free… pure love I say! ๐
